Since duckduckgo is actually up and reachable using a vpn, it seems to me like it could be that someone is blocking duckduckgo at the dns level, somewhere. I suspect someone doesn't like people using a non-tracking search engine? Is there a way to prevent this, or detect and rectify it, at least periodically?
I have tried all your troubleshooting steps over and over, resetting the modem...and all 4 other steps. I am a little confused, never had this problem with Google, so why am I having it with ddg...About 50% of the time when first opening my firefox browser (up to date) ddg says it hasn't connected and shows the big HMMMMM. Well I hate to switch back to Google but if there is no fix I will go back. Thanks for your help.
